How To Find Generic High Blood Pressure Medication

Generic high blood pressure medication is available for most common brand name types of medication to treat high blood pressure. Generic medications contain the same composition as that of the brand name.  However, they're made by a different company and using different fillers for the tablets. The results they offer are identical to the brand name product, but the name on the bottle is different.

For many people who are dealing with high blood pressure, the cost of medications can be a big problem. Some medications cost $10 or more per pill.

However, if you switch to generic high blood pressure medications rather than using the traditional brand names, you could save a substantial amount of money in the process.

• Ace Inhibitors: The brand name Lotensin is available as benazepril hydrochloride, Prinivel is available as lisinopril, and Altace is available as ramipril.



• Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers: The brand name of Atacand is available as candesartan, Cozzar is available as losartin potassium, Diovan is available as valsartan.



• Calcium Channel Blockers: The brand name Norvasc or Lotrel is available as amlodipine besylate, Cardene SR is available as nicardipine, Vasocor is available as bepridil.
