Welcome to the High Blood Pressure Wellness Lifestyle Podcast. Today, we're diving deep into a topic that resonates with many, especially women of color in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and even into their 80s, overcoming the challenges of high blood pressure.

Understanding The Pain Points of High Blood Pressure The Disease

Let's start with understanding the profound impact high blood pressure has on daily life. Many of the women I work with express a deep sense of desperation, a yearning that often goes unstated. The phrase I hear time and again is, "I just want to feel better in my body again."


This simple wish conveys so much an intense desire to regain a sense of strength, stability, and energy.


For some, the constant worry about health risks creates a shadow over everyday activities. There's anxiety about what the future holds and a relentless search for reassurance and relief. Physical symptoms might range from persistent headaches to dizzy spells, making each day unpredictably challenging.



Then come the side effects of medication. While necessary, they can feel like an additional burden, leaving one questioning, "Isn't there a better way?"

The Path To Wellness:

Now, let's explore the path to wellness a journey that combines medical management, lifestyle modifications, and mental health support into a cohesive strategy.


Medical management, while essential, can be difficult. But it's important to remember this: it's part of the toolkit that empowers us, opening up more avenues for living the life you desire. It's about finding balance, working closely with healthcare providers to ensure the approaches align with personal goals and comfort.

Lifestyle Changes Empowering Wellness Play A Crucial Role

Lifestyle changes play a crucial role. For many, it's about discovering how small, consistent adjustments in diet and activity levels can lead to significant improvements. It's about finding joy in movement again, whether that's a gentle walk or a more vigorous activity that invigorates the soul.


Mental health support is equally vital. The emotional toll of living with a chronic condition can weigh heavily. This I know about I have lived with an embarrassing persistent hacking cough for 9 straight months. Can you image talking with someone and every few words you are coughing in their face? And that was back then if I was doing this now, in this day and age people would be running away from me.


So, seeking out sources of support, whether through counseling, support groups, or even meditation practices, can create spaces for healing and hope.
