Niacin For High Blood Pressure

Niacin for high blood pressure is a great way to naturally treat coronary artery disease. It is also used to lower your risk of heart attacks and lower your bad cholesterol levels and increase your good cholesterol.

It may help control your total cholesterol level and niacin can be used to help in your treatments of high blood pressure.

Your body naturally makes niacin but at times it is lacking in our diets and so your body suffers and develop Pellagra disease.

What Is Pellagra

Pellagra is a vitamin deficiency disease most commonly caused by a chronic lack of niacin (vitamin B3) in the diet.

Also it may be the result from alterations in your protein metabolism in disorders such as carcinoid syndrome.

Niacin is easily found in plants and animals and can be added to your diet as a vitamin supplement.

High Blood Pressure

As you know high blood pressure does not give you any warning while silently wearing down your blood vessels under relentless pounding.

And as your blood flow become inadequate to your organs, your heart, kidneys and brain along with your nervous system, eventually all your organs suffer serious damage.

What Is Niacin

Niacin is a B-complex vitamin and is used to help reduce the amount of cholesterol and certain fatty substances in your blood.

It can also reverse atherosclerosis by lowering your low-density lipoprotein (LDL) or bad cholesterol and niacin can also be used to increase your high-density lipoprotein (HDL) or good cholesterol.

Recommended dosage for women is 14 mg per day and for men 16 mg per day

Side Effects Of Niacin

Flushing seems to be the most talked about side effect of niacin for high blood pressure.

This is not harmful or dangerous, in effect it is a sign of improved blood flow.

Your blood vessels are expanding in size. If you have elevated blood pressure your small blood vessels also called capillaries are clogged and your blood is flowing through slowly.

Most of these small capillaries are found near the skin and so niacin causes these capillaries to expand increasing your blood flow causing you to feel this "flushing".

Your cholesterol and triglyceride levels will significantly be lowered with niacin treatment reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases that's associated with high blood pressure.

Purchasing Niacin

Niacin supplement is available in time release form and in a pill format.

Though niacin can be purchased without a prescription, if you are having serious side effects you should speak with your doctor about the correct dosage for your body type.

This treat is almost as effect as statin drugs that are taken for the lowering of cholesterol and trigylceride levels.

Also taking niacin with food may help prevent side effects.
